CPO organizes Philippine policy directions colloquium

PASIG — Fellows, members, associates and friends of the Collegium Perulae Orientis participated in the internal colloquium “The Right Move: Rethinking Philippine Policies amidst International Crises and Beyond,” held on May 27, 2026 in Pasig City.

Former UA&P president Dr. Jose Maria Mariano opened the discussion with a brief overview of the Collegium’s role in reclaiming the classical discipline of the liberal arts in a world increasingly marked by uncertainty.

The colloquium proper consisted in contributions made by three speakers with experience in public policy. DAP lecturer Fr. Jose Jonathan Bitoy discussed the role of the Church and religion in national security; Mr. Brian Doce explored the politics of neoliberalization in the Philippines; and Mr. J.P. Bunag spoke about the question of universal health care in the Philippines.

Collegium president Daniel Tyler Chua finally closed the discussion by reiterating the Collegium’s role in helping Filipinos move past bureaucratically-mediated ideological frameworks.
